IRISH MUNRO Series: Glen of Imaal Oatmeal Pale Ale
ABV 5.6% 24x440ml cans

Celebrating Ireland’s highest mountains, Irish Munros are peaks over 3,000 ft. Many of these peaks belong to the MacGillycuddy Reeks in Kerry, one is in Wicklow, and there’s one which towers over our Mitchelstown brewery, our beloved Galtymore. Since we started Eight Degrees, we’ve taken inspiration from the surrounding landscape, constantly innovating to brew adventurous beers using natural ingredients. The Irish Munro Series: continuing our Naturally Adventurous journey.
Glen of Imaal
Lugnaquilla
3035 ft

Affectionately known as Lug, Lugnaquilla is the highest mountain in Wicklow and the highest mountain in Ireland outside Kerry. The route up – Glen of Imaal – is often used as an artillery firing range, so hill walkers need to dodge the area during firing practice. Nothing like a bit of danger to get the blood pumping. In Irish mythology, Lug was the name of the Irish god of nobility, a member of the Tuatha Dé Danann who was associated with oaths and justice. Our brewers mis-heard oaths as oats, and decided to brew a classic oatmeal pale ale for Lug.

The star of the show is new hop HBC-692, daughter of Sabro, with intense flavours of grapefruit pith and pine resin. The oats provide a silky mouthfeel which, when combined with these aromatic hops and a rounded bitterness, provides a balanced thirst-quenching drop after a rewarding climb up the Wicklow massif.
