New brews for the Irish Craft Beer Festival 2015

We’re girding our loins and about to go into battle behind the bar for the 2015 Irish Craft Beer Festival at the Industries Hall in the RDS, which kicks off at 5pm tomorrow, Thursday 27 August, running through Friday 28 (5pm – 12.30am) and finishing on Saturday 29 August (12pm – 12.30am). Buy tickets here: www.irishcraftbeerfestival.ie/buy-tickets We’ve got a few special brews for those of you who make it along. Up first is our millennial brew – brew number 1,000 – which happened the same day that we got news of our Great Taste awards. In a rare burst of inspiration, we named – ta, da! – Millennium. (This song may have been playing in our heads at the time.) Millennium Imperial IPA 10% ABV Eight Degrees are celebrating 1,000 brews by creating a big, bold beer to be savoured and sought after. Our hoppiest beer ever, an Imperial India Pale Ale, comes in at 10% ABV and is brewed with a colossal whirlpool addition of whole cone hops producing a beer with sweet biscuit malt flavours, balanced with bitter orange tang. Celebrate good times with Eight Degrees. We’re so hoppy. We also have number 2 in our occasional series of Ochtoberfest beers. Back in 2012, the style we picked was a marzen; this year we’ve gone all bock. Ochtoberfest Bock  6.4% ABV OCHT – number eight in Irish. Ochtoberfest is a modern Irish festival celebrating the lucky and infinite nature of the number eight. Only beer brewed eight degrees west longitude, during the eighth month of the year, and served at eight degrees celsius can be consumed at this festival. Our bock is a strong ale, with plenty of Munich and Vienna malt and a touch of crystal for light toffee sweetness. It is moderately hopped with Chinook and Hersbrucker and pours a beautiful orange-amber in the glass with a fluffy white head.
