March 2015: Limited Edition – Enigma Pale Ale

New girl on the block, the Enigma hop is the latest in the Aussie hop family and a descendent of Swiss Tettnang. As the name suggests, her flavour profile is difficult to crack. Some say rock melon and red currant – but don’t be fooled, she is not like her Aussie hop sisters. Not even on general release yet, we have managed to sneak Enigma into Ireland on the sly. To showcase her first appearance here, we have brewed a single hop pale ale to allow her true colours to shine. This beer is light in colour, with a dry crisp mouthfeel. Puzzling, ambiguous and inexplicable; we challenge you to discover for yourself Enigma’s unique, yet irresistible, flavours and aromas. Short description: brand new Enigma hop – fruity rock melon – soft bitterness Style: Pale Ale Malt: Irish pale malt Hops: Enigma all the way Strength: 6% ABV Bitterness: 54 IBUs Tasting notes Colour/appearance: pours a pale gold with a fluffy pale head Aroma: fresh rock melon. Food pairings: have you ever had blue cheese matched with a pale ale? Well, this is your chance to try it.
